Free Website at Webnode - Make a Church Website for Free!

Our pastor and his wife have a small jewelry business and they learned of a free website creation site called Webnode that they used to create their own website. It was fairly easy for them to use and within a few days they had their site up, for free. And neither our pastor nor his wife have any html skills for designing pages. So I thought I would share this resource as a way to make a church website for free. Be aware, however, that if you exceed a bandwidth of 1GB (1000 MB) or a storage space of 100 MB, then you will have to pay a monthly fee - see Webnode Terms. But if you don't have hundreds of visitors per day and you do not put videos or more than 200 photos on your church site, you should not exceed these limits. My pastor and his wife are well below these limits so their site is free. Another thing you should know is this service is not US based (but rather is based in Europe), but that should not be a factor if you are staying at the free level.

Step 1 - Go to http://www.webnode.com and select the option Sign Up Now, as shown on the right.

Step 3 - Check your email and click the link on the confirmation email. You will then be taken to a page like the one shown on the right. Type in a slogan (this is optional and may be added or deleted later). Then select Next. church site image
Step 4 - Choose a template. Note that you may change this template at any time later. church site image
Step 5 - Select the pages you wish to have on your site. You may change these choices or add or delete choices later on as well. Click on Finish. You now have a free church website! church site image
You will then see an edit screen as shown on the right. This system is not too hard to work with, but it does take a little getting used to. You can start by changing the banner using this tutorial. Then, look at this tutorial for editing your website home page. Also, there is now a tutorial for using your own Godaddy domain name with this site rather than the webnode subdomain.
