How To Select and Set Up Hosting
Step 1 - After registering your domain, choose a hosting provider. Go to Web Hosting Information page to compare key features of 13 different plans along with pros and cons of each. In my case, I will show hosting setup with Hostgator because of its fairly low price and its reliability and cutomer service. A different hosting company will involve a similar procedure to the one shown here. After arriving at the home page, write down the COUPON CODE and then click on WEB HOSTING, as shown below.
.
Step 2 - Select your hosting plan and then click on ORDER NOW.
Step 3 - Enter your domain name. If you are registering your domain at a separate location (highly recommended), then you will use the option as shown below.
Step 4 - Make sure to enter the COUPON CODE from Step 1, if it has not already been input. Select CALCULATE TOTALS.

Step 5 - Complete the order process. Write down the USER NAME and PASSWORD you select! And make your password somewhat secure, consisting of 12-15 letters with numbers. You will recieve a signup email right away and then another email that lists your Domain Name Servers. Write down your Domain Name Servers and go to namecheap.com (or whoever you used to register your domain) and enter the Domain Name Server information. If you used NameCheap, follow the instructions below.
Go to NameCheap.com and log in. (Login button in upper right corner). Click on Manage Domains, as shown below.

Check the box next to your doman and then Edit Selected, as shown below.

Select TRANSFER DNS to Webhost, as shown below.
Enter the Domain Name Servers that Hostgator (or whoever is your host) provided you. You will enter your assigned DNS information as shown below. If you are using Hostgator, the DNS settings will be similar to what is shown below.

Step 6 - You now can upload files to your website. To do this, go to the Control Panel address shown in your email. Also, you can always access the hostgator control panel for your site by entering YourDomain.com/cpanel in your browser window. You then input your USER NAME and PASSWORD you chose when you signed up for hosting. If you need help, try the Hostgator Chat Support - it is fairly quick and I have always found it to be helpful.
