How To Use Your Own Godaddy Domain in Webnode

BEFORE YOU START, YOU SHOULD PRINT OUT THIS PAGE! YOU MAY ALSO WISH TO PRINT OUT OR AT LEAST OPEN THE PAGE WITH THE LARGER SCREEN SHOTS SHOWN AT THIIS Screenshot Page

Step 1 - Log into you Godaddy account. Then select My Domains as shown on the right.

Step 2 - Then, choose Total DNS Control as shown on the right. church site image
Step 3 - As shown on the right, select the www record by checking the box and then click on the red X to delete this record. church site image
Step 4 - Click on Add New CNAME Record, as shown on the right. church site image
Step 5 - Enter www and yourdomain.webnode.com as shown on the right. For example, if your domain name was firstbaptistchurchofdallas.com, you would enter firstbaptistchurchofdallas.webnode.com. Click OK. church site image
Step 6 - Again click on Add New CNAME Record, as shown on the right. church site image
Step 7 - Enter files and yourdomain.webnode.com as shown on the right. Click OK. church site image
Step 8 - Go to http://www.hostip.info/ to look up the IP address of your Webnode site. Enter yourdomain.webnode.com and click Go as shown on the right. The IP Address will be displayed. Copy this address or write it down. church site image
Step 9 - Back at Godaddy, select the top A record as shown on the right. Also, clcik on the edit icon as shown on the right. church site image
Step 10 - Type in the IP Address that you copied and click on OK as shown on the screen shot here. church site image

Step 11 - Go to http://www.webnode.com and log in. Select Design Website and then Domain Names as shown below. You will then see an edit screen like the one shown on the right. Select Assing Your Domain from the screen as shown on the right.

Step 12 - Carefully type in your domain name as shown on the right. Click on Add Domain. Do not make a mistake here as it may be difficult to correct without starting over with a new webnode site! You may want to copy your domain name from Godaddy and paste it in. church site image
Step 13 - Click OK on the screen you will be returned to. Note that it may take a day or more for all changes to take effect so give it a day before assuming something went wrong. Test to see that your website redirects properly by trying URLs mywebsite.com, http://mywebsite.com, www.mywebsite.com, and http://www.mywebsite.com - they should all redirect to the same web page. church site image
